Pediatric Psychological Services

Dr. Miller is experienced and provides collaborative psychological services with your child’s medical team regarding the assessment and treating of the psychological aspects of acute or chronic illness including:

  • Acceptance of new illness
  • Living with chronic illness
  • Procedure anxiety
  • Adherence to treatment
  • Seizure Disorders

What to expect:

Dr. Miller will need your permission to consult with your child’s pediatrician and specialty physicians.  A letter or order from your child’s physician will typically be needed. Medical records if you do not have them available, will be requested.

Goals of therapy often include assisting the child and family to understand the psychological impact of a medical diagnosis with the ultimate goal of assisting the child obtain the highest quality of life.

Additionally, Dr. Miller can assist you in collaborating with your child’s educational providers in developing accommodations that may be necessary for your child to be successful at school.

Dr. Miller also has extensive experience treating children with physical symptoms of anxiety or developmental delays that may present as:

  • Temper tantrums
  • School Phobia
  • Emesis (Throwing up) due to anxiety
  • Somatic anxiety (Physical symptoms without medical cause)
  • Incontinence and Elimination Disorders
  • Anxiety related to asthma or severe allergy
